". . . the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple." -- Psalm 19:7.
A write-in candidate is a candidate in an election whose name does not appear
on the ballot, but for whom voters may nontheless vote, by writing-in on the ballot
the person's 'name' and the 'office' he is being voted for.
Some states and
local jurisdictions allow a voter to affix a sticker with a write-in candidate's
name and office. Write-in candidates evolved from the time when ballot-forms were
blank with no names printed on them.
